Washington Trail's Association "Safer Trails" project advocated for
changes that will make the woods a more welcoming place for all
trail users. Elements of this project included:
-
minimum age legislation, requiring hunters under the
age of sixteen to be accompanied by an adult;
-
budgetary proviso with the Department of Fish and
Wildlife to earmark $15,000 for upgrading their hunting information;
-
supporting the Snoqualmie Ranger District to close
7,000 acres to target shooting; and
-
continued public education on hiker safety gear
during hunting season.
