Projects for 2009

"Safer trails" project

Washington Trail's Association "Safer Trails" project advocated for changes that will make the woods a more welcoming place for all trail users. Elements of this project included:

  • minimum age legislation, requiring hunters under the age of sixteen to be accompanied by an adult;

  • budgetary proviso with the Department of Fish and Wildlife to earmark $15,000 for upgrading their hunting information;

  • supporting the Snoqualmie Ranger District to close 7,000 acres to target shooting; and

  • continued public education on hiker safety gear during hunting season.
