Projects for 2009

Salmo-priest wilderness

Volunteers of Conservation NWcleared about 25 miles of trails (mostly in the Salmo Priest Wilderness Area), including work on several sections of the Shedroof Divide Trail #512, the Shedroof Mountain Trail, Crowell Ridge trail, the Slate Creek Trail, and trail #535 and #506 on the Salmo Loop. Volunteers also constructed 2,330 ft of retread of poor sections of trail; directed water from flowing down the trail at 6 creek crossings with new drain dips; reinforced a trailhead where ORVs had been illegally driving up the non-motorized Barnaby Buttes Trail in the Kettle Range; and converted a bridge into a ford in proposed wilderness additions to the Salmo-Priest Wilderness Area.
