Projects for 2007

Rachel lake trail

Washington Trails Association led a total of 884 hours to address major sections of the Rachel Lake trail.

Key improvements included:

  • Improving ford crossings

  • Raising puncheon to reestablish level walking surface

  • Brushing through the first two meadows

  • Re-treading on the section after the first meadow

  • Re-cutting logs to meet Forest Service specifications

  • Re-working two fords to allow for better access by using locally found gravel, placing rock steps and protecting the work with rock/cobble buffer walls

  • Preventing water running down the trail at the 2-mile marker by removing roots and rocks, building drainage features, and installing steps

  • Adding drain dips and ditches

Spring Trust for Trails thanks WTA and their crew leaders for their work on the Rachel Lake trail.
