The old puncheon bridge was a hazard to hikers and stock and there
were bottomless mud holes at a second old puncheon site. |

Members of the Northwest Youth Corp Crew began demolition in August
of 2006. Over 50 feet of puncheon was removed. |

Northwest Youth Corps replaced 50 feet of turnpike, and rehabbed 20
feet of muddy trail with rock fill and rock steps.

One switchback was restored to its original grade, and three
culverts were installed. |

The job was completed in September
2006.
Northwest Youth Corps worked around 872 hours over 10 days to complete
this project.
